Sur-Ron Hyper Bee Weight – Is It Easy to Handle?
How much does the Sur-Ron Hyper Bee weigh? We explain whether its 39kg curb weight is manageable, how it feels at low speed and what riders should consider before stepping up from a lighter electric bike.
How much does the Sur-Ron Hyper Bee weigh?
The 2026 Sur-Ron Hyper Bee has a quoted curb weight of approximately 39kg.
That makes it relatively light for an 8kW performance electric motorcycle, but considerably heavier than a conventional Revvi or Amped electric balance bike.
Once moving, its compact chassis and centrally positioned battery help it feel agile. The greater challenge for a smaller rider is normally supporting, lifting and repositioning the bike when stationary.
Garland Powersports is trusted by parents, riders and powersports enthusiasts across the UK for specialist sizing advice, fast delivery and a carefully selected range of electric off-road bikes.

Our own photographs show how compact the Hyper Bee is compared with a larger electric dirt bike, while also making clear that it is a substantial step up from a lightweight electric balance bike.

The compact 14/12 wheel chassis helps the Hyper Bee feel smaller and more manageable than the larger Light Bee X.
Sur-Ron Hyper Bee weight and size
Is 39kg heavy for a younger rider?
It depends on the rider’s strength, height, technique and previous experience.
A 39kg motorcycle is relatively light once it is moving and balanced on its wheels. However, that same weight can feel much more noticeable when the rider is stopping on uneven ground, turning in a confined area or recovering the bike after a fall.
Moving weight
Once balanced and travelling, the wheels carry the majority of the bike’s weight and the Hyper Bee should feel agile and responsive.
Stationary weight
When stopped, the rider must support the bike themselves. This is where height, leg strength and balance become more important.
Fallen-bike weight
Picking the bike up requires proper technique and may be difficult for smaller riders even when they ride it confidently.
My take as a British motocross rider
Bike weight matters most when the bike is moving slowly or has already started to fall. Once you are riding properly, balance and momentum do much of the work.
That is why a capable rider may feel completely comfortable riding the Hyper Bee but still struggle to lift it from the floor or push it backwards on uneven ground.
The important thing is not whether the rider can physically dead-lift 39kg. It is whether they understand how to use the handlebars, wheels, legs and body position to control the bike efficiently.
My view: the Hyper Bee is genuinely light for the performance it offers, but it should not be mistaken for a lightweight children’s balance bike.
Why does the Hyper Bee feel lighter once moving?
The number on the specification sheet does not tell the whole story. Where that weight sits within the chassis also affects how manageable the bike feels.
The Hyper Bee carries its main electrical components centrally and relatively low within the frame. This helps reduce the feeling of top-heavy weight and supports more predictable direction changes.
A bike with well-centralised mass can feel considerably easier to ride than another machine of a similar overall weight with more of its mass positioned high in the chassis.
Can a younger rider push the Hyper Bee?
Many capable riders will be able to push the Hyper Bee on firm, level ground, particularly if they remain beside the bike and keep it close to their body.
The task becomes more difficult on loose gravel, mud, grass, slopes or when attempting to move the bike backwards. In those conditions the rider must overcome both the bike’s weight and additional rolling resistance.
Easier situations
Firm ground, level surfaces, straight-line movement and a rider who can keep the bike upright and close to their body.
Harder situations
Soft mud, steep inclines, uneven ground, tight turns and moving the bike backwards without motor assistance.
Can a rider pick up a 39kg Hyper Bee?
Some younger riders will be able to lift the bike using correct technique, while others may require adult assistance.
Picking up a motorcycle is not the same as lifting its full weight vertically. One wheel or part of the handlebar normally remains in contact with the ground, allowing the rider to use leverage.
- Switch the bike off before attempting to lift it
- Stand securely with feet away from loose or slippery ground
- Hold a secure point such as the handlebar and rear of the chassis
- Keep the back controlled and use the legs
- Lift smoothly rather than pulling suddenly
- Ask for assistance if the rider cannot recover it safely
Does reverse make the Hyper Bee easier to move?
Yes. The Hyper Bee’s reverse mode can make repositioning easier when space is limited or the bike is facing an awkward direction.
This is particularly useful because pushing an electric motorcycle backwards can feel more difficult than moving it forwards, especially for a smaller rider.
Reverse should still be used slowly and carefully. It assists with movement, but the rider must continue to balance and steer the bike.
Is the Hyper Bee easy to load into a van?
Its 39kg weight makes the Hyper Bee easier to transport than many larger electric motorcycles, but lifting it directly into a van may still require two people.
A suitable loading ramp is generally the safer and easier option. The bike can then be guided into the vehicle rather than lifted through the full loading height.
Use a proper ramp
Choose a motorcycle-rated ramp with enough load capacity, grip and width for the Hyper Bee.
Use two people
One person can guide the handlebars while the second supports and pushes from the rear.
Secure it correctly
Use suitable straps and secure the bike upright without excessively compressing the suspension.

Hyper Bee vs Revvi 24 and Amped A24 Comp
The Hyper Bee occupies a different performance category from larger electric balance bikes such as the Revvi 24 and Amped A24 Comp.
Those bikes can provide an important progression stage, but the Hyper Bee combines substantially greater performance with a more motorcycle- focused chassis, suspension and braking setup.
| Model | Type | Weight and Handling Character | Best Suited To |
|---|---|---|---|
| Revvi 24 | Large electric balance bike | Lighter and less physically demanding | Teen riders progressing through the Revvi range |
| Amped A24 Comp | Large performance balance bike | More substantial than entry-level balance bikes | Taller riders wanting balance-bike simplicity |
| Sur-Ron Hyper Bee | Performance electric off-road motorcycle | Approximately 39kg with motorcycle-style handling | Experienced progressing riders ready for a major step up |
Who should be able to manage the Hyper Bee?
The Hyper Bee may suit riders who:
- Have previous powered off-road riding experience
- Can support the bike confidently when stationary
- Can reposition it on firm ground
- Understand smooth throttle and brake control
- Find smaller electric bikes physically cramped
- Find the Light Bee X too large or heavy
- Will ride on suitable private off-road land
Consider a lighter bike when the rider:
- Is still learning basic balance
- Cannot support the Hyper Bee when stopped
- Needs help every time the bike is repositioned
- Feels intimidated by its weight or performance
- Has no previous powered-bike experience
- Cannot comfortably reach the controls
- Would progress better on a Revvi or Amped model
Rider strength matters more than age alone
Two riders of the same age can differ significantly in height, strength, coordination and experience.
One may be able to manage the Hyper Bee confidently, while another may find the same bike intimidating. This is why we do not recommend choosing solely from an age chart.
Balance and coordination
The rider should remain composed during slow turns, stops and changes of direction.
Leg and core strength
They should be able to stabilise the chassis when the bike leans unexpectedly.
Throttle discipline
The rider must understand that abrupt throttle input can transfer weight quickly and unsettle the bike.
Confidence without panic
A suitable rider should remain calm and use the brakes correctly rather than freezing when the bike moves unexpectedly.
