Shop Bikes by Rider HeightHow tall is the seat on a Revvi 12?
The Revvi 12 seat can be adjusted from approximately 36cm at its lowest position to 39.5cm at its highest. It is generally best suited to young riders under approximately 105cm tall, although leg length, confidence and previous balance-bike experience are more important than height alone.
Revvi 12 seat height: approximately 36–39.5cm
The seat-height figure is measured vertically from level ground to the top of the saddle. Start near the lowest setting for a beginner, then raise it gradually as the rider grows.
The correct position should still allow secure ground contact, relaxed arms and enough room for the rider to turn the handlebars comfortably.
Revvi 12 sizing specifications
The Revvi 12 is the smallest model in the main Revvi electric bike range. Its low saddle, compact wheelbase and lightweight construction make it considerably easier for young children to balance and support than a larger 16-inch model.
| Measurement | Revvi 12 Specification | What It Means for the Rider |
|---|---|---|
| Adjustable seat height | Approx. 36–39.5cm | A very low saddle suitable for smaller and younger riders. |
| Wheel size | 12 inches | Keeps the bike compact and easy to manoeuvre at low speed. |
| Wheelbase | Approx. 67.5cm | Provides a short and manageable riding position. |
| Handlebar height | Approx. 57.5–59.5cm | Allows minor adjustment as the rider grows. |
| Bike weight | Approx. 9kg | Light enough for many young children to support and reposition. |
| Typical rider age | Approximately 2–6 years | Age is guidance only; physical fit should always be checked. |
Important sizing point
A child does not need completely straight legs while sitting on the bike. However, a first-time rider should normally be able to place both feet securely on the ground with slightly bent knees.
This gives them enough stability to push, glide, stop and catch the bike if they begin to lose balance.
What rider height is the Revvi 12 suitable for?
As a practical starting point, the Revvi 12 is best suited to children measuring up to approximately 105cm tall. Many suitable riders will fall somewhere around 85–105cm, but this should not be treated as a strict minimum or maximum.
Two children of the same overall height can have noticeably different leg lengths. The most reliable test is therefore whether the rider can sit comfortably, reach the handlebars and place both feet securely on the ground.
Can they reach the ground?
Both feet should make secure contact with the ground when the saddle is set to an appropriate height.
Can they reach the controls?
The rider should reach the throttle and brake without leaning too far forward or locking their arms.
Can they support the bike?
They should be able to hold the Revvi upright and turn it around without the bike immediately becoming overwhelming.
What age is the Revvi 12 designed for?
Revvi positions the 12-inch model for riders aged approximately 2–6 years old. In practice, it is normally most appealing as a first powered bike for toddlers and younger children who are still learning balance, braking and basic throttle control.
The wide age range reflects how differently children grow and develop. A smaller or cautious five-year-old may still fit the Revvi 12 well, while a tall and confident four-year-old may already be physically ready to consider a larger bike.
The Revvi 12 may be right when:
- The child is approximately 2–6 years old
- The rider is below approximately 105cm tall
- They can place both feet securely on the ground
- They are learning balance or throttle control
- A lightweight first electric bike is required
- The larger Revvi 16 would feel too tall or intimidating
Consider a larger bike when:
- The rider looks cramped with the seat fully raised
- Their knees sit excessively high while riding
- They are clearly above the intended rider-height range
- They already have strong balance-bike experience
- They need more room for continued physical growth
- The Revvi 16 can be controlled confidently and safely

Who should—and should not—choose a Revvi 12?
The Revvi 12 is an excellent first powered balance bike, but it should be chosen because it fits the rider now—not simply because of their age.
The Revvi 12 is likely suitable when:
- The rider is small enough to sit naturally without looking cramped
- Both feet reach the ground securely with slightly bent knees
- The child is learning balance, braking and throttle control
- A lightweight approximately 9kg first electric bike is preferred
- The larger Revvi 16 currently feels too tall or cumbersome
The Revvi 12 is probably not right when:
- The rider is clearly above approximately 105cm tall
- Their knees remain excessively high with the saddle fully raised
- The handlebars and frame make the rider look visibly cramped
- They already need the physical room of a 16-inch platform
- They can confidently support and control a correctly fitted Revvi 16
How to measure your child for a Revvi 12
Measuring the rider before ordering is particularly useful when they sit between a Revvi 12 and Revvi 16. You only need a book, a tape measure and a flat wall.
Stand against a wall
Ask the child to stand naturally with their riding shoes on and their feet slightly apart.
Position a book
Place a book between their legs and raise it gently to simulate the position of a bike saddle.
Measure to the floor
Measure from the top of the book to the floor. This gives the rider's approximate inside-leg measurement.
Allow for riding position
The published seat height is measured from the ground to the saddle. The saddle may compress slightly under the rider, and footwear can also add some effective reach.
For a young beginner, it is better to have a little extra ground contact than to choose a bike they can only reach with their toes.
Revvi 12 vs Revvi 16 size comparison
The Revvi 12 is the smaller and lighter first-bike option. The Revvi 16 moves the rider onto a larger 16-inch platform with more physical room, more power and a higher adjustable saddle.
| Comparison | Revvi 12 | Revvi 16 |
|---|---|---|
| Typical rider age | Approximately 2–6 years | Approximately 5–8 years |
| Ideal rider height | Generally under approximately 105cm | Generally around 105–130cm |
| Seat height | Approximately 36–39.5cm | Approximately 43–50cm |
| Wheel size | 12 inches | 16 inches |
| Bike weight | Approximately 9kg | Approximately 11kg |
| Best suited to | Smaller beginners learning basic balance and throttle control | Growing riders ready for more room and a larger platform |
Our recommendation
Choose the Revvi 12 when secure ground contact and low weight are the priorities. Consider the Revvi 16 once the child is visibly cramped on the 12 and can confidently support the larger bike.
Do not choose solely by age. The safest and most confidence-building option is the bike that fits the rider properly today.
How should the Revvi 12 seat be set?
Start with the saddle low enough for secure ground contact. As the rider becomes more confident and physically grows, the seat can be raised gradually to provide a more natural leg position.
For a first-time rider
- Set the saddle towards its lower position
- Make sure both feet sit securely on the ground
- Check that the knees remain slightly bent
- Begin without power where appropriate
- Use the lowest speed setting first
For a confident rider
- Raise the saddle gradually as the rider grows
- Retain enough ground contact for safe stopping
- Check that the rider does not feel stretched
- Keep the brake lever easy to reach
- Recheck all fasteners after adjustment
The Revvi 12 can also be used initially as a conventional balance bike using its freewheel system. This allows a child to practise pushing, gliding and steering before powered riding is introduced.
Why correct sizing matters
Rider fit affects far more than comfort. A bike that is too tall can make stopping, turning and recovering from a loss of balance much harder for a young child.
My take as a British motocross rider
With younger riders, I would always prioritise control over buying the biggest bike possible. A child who can reach the ground properly will normally learn faster and feel much more confident.
The Revvi 12 works so well as a first bike because it is low, light and simple. Once the rider is genuinely cramped or clearly needs more room, that is the time to move into a Revvi 16 rather than rushing the progression too early.
