Sur-Ron Hyper Bee
Best for capable progression riders and smaller experienced riders
The Hyper Bee is Sur-Ron’s compact performance off-road model. It is designed to bridge the gap between larger electric balance bikes and the full-size Light Bee X.
The current model features an 8kW power system, 58V 22Ah battery, approximately 39kg curb weight and a compact 14-inch front and 12-inch rear wheel setup.
It is substantially more motorcycle-focused than bikes such as the Revvi 20, Revvi 24 or Amped A24 Comp, but remains noticeably lower and lighter than a Light Bee X.
Choose the Hyper Bee if:
- The rider already has powered-bike experience
- The Light Bee X feels physically too large or heavy
- The rider has outgrown a larger electric balance bike

Sur-Ron Light Bee X
Best for older teenagers and adult riders
The Light Bee X is the model most people associate with Sur-Ron. It sits between the compact Hyper Bee and the larger Ultra Bee, providing the strongest overall balance of size, performance and usability.
The latest model uses a 72V 35Ah battery and produces up to 10kW maximum power. Its larger 19/18 wheel setup and approximately 830mm seat height create a substantially roomier riding position than the Hyper Bee.
For most older teenagers and adults, the Light Bee X is likely to be the better long-term purchase.
Choose the Light Bee X if:
- The rider is an older teenager or adult
- You want the best all-round Sur-Ron platform
- The rider can manage the additional height and weight
- Long-term performance and upgrade potential matter
- You want more room than the Hyper Bee provides
It may not be ideal if:

My take as a British motocross rider
The correct Sur-Ron is not necessarily the most powerful one. Rider fit and confidence are more important than choosing the biggest model available.
The Hyper Bee makes sense when the rider has the experience for serious performance but would be physically overwhelmed by a Light Bee X.
The Light Bee X is the best-balanced option for most older teenagers and adults because it provides enough room and performance without the full size and weight of the Ultra Bee.
The Ultra Bee is the natural choice when the rider already has strong off-road experience and specifically wants a larger motorcycle-style platform.
My recommendation: choose by physical fit and riding experience first, then compare power and battery capacity.
