Sur-Ron Hyper Bee
Best for experienced smaller riders who need a compact chassis
The Hyper Bee bridges the gap between larger electric balance bikes and the Light Bee range. Its smaller dimensions make it easier to fit and support, but it still brings a substantial increase in performance.
The current model combines an 8kW power system, 58V 22Ah battery, approximately 39kg kerb weight and 14-inch front / 12-inch rear wheels.
When progressing from a Revvi 20, Revvi 24 or Amped A24 Comp, assess the rider again rather than assuming the next bike is suitable because they have outgrown the old one.
Choose the Hyper Bee if:
- The rider already has powered-bike experience
- A Light Bee feels too tall or heavy
- They can confidently support and control the bike
- Compact handling and transport matter
- You need a lower motorcycle-style progression option
It may not be ideal if:
- The rider is completely new to powered bikes
- They cannot support approximately 39kg
- A roomier adult riding position is needed
- Maximum battery capacity is your priority
- The rider already fits a larger bike comfortably
Sur-Ron Light Bee X 10kW
Best for suitably experienced older teenagers and adults who fit the bike
The Light Bee X provides more physical room than the Hyper Bee while remaining smaller and lighter than the Ultra Bee. It is our starting point for buyers who want capable off-road performance with a focus on value.
The MY26 model uses a 72V 35Ah battery and produces 10kW maximum power. Its 19-inch front / 18-inch rear wheels and 830mm seat height provide a roomier riding position.
Already an experienced rider wanting more performance? Compare the new Light Bee 2 X before deciding.
Choose the Light Bee X if:
- The rider has suitable powered-bike experience
- You want our all-round value option
- They can manage the height and weight
- You want more room than the Hyper Bee provides
- The 10kW model meets your riding needs
It may not be ideal if:
- The rider cannot confidently support a 59kg bike
- The 830mm seat is too tall
- You need the smallest and lightest option
- The rider is learning basic throttle control
- You specifically want a larger Ultra Bee chassis
Sur-Ron Light Bee 2 X 24kW
Best for experienced off-road riders wanting more from a Light Bee
The Light Bee 2 X brings a new choice to the range. Consider it when you want more performance but would prefer a Light Bee-sized bike to the larger Ultra Bee.
Its specification includes 24kW maximum power, a 78.54V 45Ah semi-solid-state battery, 410Nm maximum wheel torque and 65kg kerb weight.
The published seat height is 830mm, matching the 10kW model. Similar seat height does not mean equal rider suitability: the additional performance needs a fresh assessment of ability and control.
Choose the Light Bee 2 X if:
- You already have confident off-road riding skills
- You want more performance within the Light Bee range
- You can support and manoeuvre the bike comfortably
- You want to compare a new model before modifying your current bike
- A larger Ultra Bee chassis is not your priority
It may not be ideal if:
- You are learning basic powered-bike control
- You are choosing mainly by the power figure
- The bike feels too tall or heavy
- The 10kW model already meets your needs
- You specifically want a larger motorcycle riding position

Sur-Ron Ultra Bee HP X MY26
Best for experienced riders wanting a larger off-road machine
The Ultra Bee is the option to compare when chassis size matters most. It offers a taller and more substantial riding platform than the Light Bee family.
The official MY26 HP X specification is 24.5kW maximum power in Turbo, 21.5kW in Sport, a 74V 60Ah battery, 88.5kg kerb weight and a 910mm seat height.
Its peak power is close to the Light Bee 2 X, so the decision should focus on the riding position, dimensions and weight you want. Check the exact Ultra Bee version and model year before ordering.
Consider the Ultra Bee if:
- You have substantial off-road experience
- You want a larger motorcycle-style chassis
- You can confidently manage its height and weight
- You prefer a more substantial riding platform
- The Light Bee feels too compact for your needs
It may not be ideal if:
- This is your first powered off-road bike
- The rider is physically small
- Low weight and easy transport are priorities
- You are moving directly from a balance bike
- You prefer the more compact Light Bee platform
My take as a British motocross rider
The correct Sur-Ron is the one you can confidently support and control. Fit and experience should come before the biggest power figure.
The Hyper Bee makes sense for an experienced rider who needs compact dimensions. The 10kW Light Bee X remains my all-round value recommendation for riders who fit it.
The new Light Bee 2 X is the performance option I would consider for someone who already has the skills and wants more from the Light Bee range. The Ultra Bee is the choice when you specifically want a larger motorcycle-style platform.
Choose by physical fit and riding experience first, then compare power and battery capacity.
Which Sur-Ron should you buy by rider type?
| Rider Type | Model to Consider | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Progressing from a Revvi 20 or 24 | Hyper Bee | A compact option to assess, with a substantial increase in performance and weight. |
| Progressing from an Amped A24 Comp | Hyper Bee | Assess fit, strength and control again before moving to this performance level. |
| Experienced smaller teenager | Hyper Bee | Lower and lighter than the Light Bee models. |
| Taller, experienced older teenager | Light Bee X | More room with an emphasis on all-round value. |
| Smaller adult rider | Hyper Bee or Light Bee X | Compare compact fit with a roomier Light Bee riding position. |
| Adult wanting all-round off-road value | Light Bee X 10kW | Our starting point when the rider fits and has suitable experience. |
| Experienced rider wanting more Light Bee performance | Light Bee 2 X | A new performance option within the Light Bee family. |
| Experienced rider wanting a larger chassis | Ultra Bee HP X | A taller and heavier motorcycle-style platform. |
| Priority is compact transport | Hyper Bee | The smallest and lightest of these four models. |
Three questions to ask before choosing
Does the rider fit?
They should comfortably reach the controls, support the bike at a stop and reposition it without excessive effort. Check inside leg as well as overall height.
Do they have the experience?
Consider throttle control, braking, balance, maturity and previous off-road experience. A similar seat height does not mean two models are equally suitable.
Where will it be ridden?
Consider the riding venue, terrain and space available, along with how you will transport and store the bike.
